Well I choose to use never again bc Ik I'm a binge eater and crackers are my go to, eating a whole sleeve before I know it! So why spend thousands to end up right back where I started in a year or 3, eating sleeves of crackers.... Guess the point is if it's a food you ate constantly with the habit of bingeing don't put it in you mouth!

I agree! I was a Cheezit fool! You know how they put on the back of the boxes "Get your own Box".....I think they wrote that for me! haha. Sadly, I will never be able to have Cheezits ever again.....but that's my own rule for me. :)

Interesting subject/reading!! I kinda skipped a few pages of comments, but.....I'm 3 weeks out and I occasionally eat a single Club cracker with a thin layer of smooth cheese spread (darn you Sam's Club taster people) at the end of a day, maybe twice a week. I take small bites, chew them up into a paste...NOT hurting my tummy or weight loss and I get to feel that little feeling of "cheating" lol (I work hard to not think of it as a "reward" because we're not dogs and food shouldn't be used as a reward. Side note: My mother did this to me my entire childhood, not that I blame her or anything lol)

I'm one of those people who has never really ate too much of something, but chose the wrong foods for meals/snacks, so I CAN have just 1 cracker and walk away. Do I want 2? Sure!!! But I understand and keep reminding myself that I only have 1 year for this surgery to REALLY DO ITS JOB for me, and I'm not gonna blow it by overindulging with crackers. I prayed/worked too hard to get this surgery!!

I've tried the Wheat Thins (low fat) with tuna/low fat mayo, but that's a LOT of chewing to get the consistency I need. So giving the box to hubby!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
