Regain After Taking Hormone Medication

Recommended Posts

I am 2 1/2 years post op. I lost 100lbs total and I was very happy about it. At about the 2 year mark, my OB Doctor started me on a hormone medication in an attempt to achieve pregnancy. This was unsuccessful, and caused me to gain about 25lbs in a two week period while taking it. The OB said it can be normal to gain weight while taking this, and some of it should go away once I stop. I haven't been taking it for about 3 months now and I have not lost a pound yet. My eating and exercise habits haven't changed at all. I am incredibly frustrated and depressed. I feel like a fool for "messing up" my weight loss journey in an attempt to have a baby that failed anyways. Has anyone had any similar issues that they may have any suggestions for me? I also have PCOS.

Yes, I was put on hormones and gain some weight back. I

am now trying hard to change that. I have a primary doctor who is working with me as of 7/15/16. I will be 2 years sleeved on 08/1. I lost some weight 9 pounds over the last 3 months. It is hard as heck. I will not give up and neither should you. Start over and move forward. My OB Doctor told me this could happen but offered no help.

Google the 5:2 plan. I've tried it for a week, and I've lost 2 of the 5 I've regained that was partially due to my hormones being out of whack (along with other things). Oh, I'll be 2 years out in August.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
