Also in CT. Was originally going with Papasavas or Tishler but opted out of the process due to not wanting to deal with Cigna :/ I decided on traveling to MX. Will be sleeved on the 23rd :)

Did you have bypass or sleeve? How has your recovery been going? I received insurance approval last week so just waiting for dr to call me this week to make final arrangements. Took longer than expected because my dr moved from Norwich when I was 5 months into 6 month supervised wt loss. I chose to follow Dr. Tousiant rather than stay in network with a Dr I hadn't met before( Dr Tishler). So I'm excited, nervous all of the above. [emoji3]

I had bypass with dr tishler actually. He was great, especially because I was a difficult case. What are you planing on having?

Bypass as well. I'm glad everything went well for you with Dr Tishler I just had never met him and I was already comfortable with Dr Tousiant so wanted to stay with him. I quit smoking(after 35 yrs heavy smoking!) two weeks ago in preparation for surgery. Feel so much better already. Lol if you don't mind my asking why do you say that you were a difficult case?

I had previous abdominal surgery, so ext3nsive scar tissue and a huge mesh also in the way. So it was a very difficult procedure. Thankfully all went well and I feel great. The 1st week was hardest an now I feel normal. I do get occasional pain but minimal.

Make sure you never go back to smoking. It's so critical. I'm glad your happy with your surgeon, always good to feel comfortable with your surgeon

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
