I'm looking for surgeon recommendations at Newton Wellesley in MA for RNY. Also wondering how long the pre-op diet is and requirement for weight loss prior to surgery. Or generally any experiences at Newton Wellesley regarding weight loss surgery program.

Hi onmyway11! I had my surgery at Brigham and Women's Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, but can tell you how I chose my surgeon. I asked the office who had the first opening!

The Center has an excellent reputation and I was comfortable with any of the surgeons. After getting my appointment, I did a "google search" of him for feedback from other patients. I also spoke with patients in the waiting room for their feedback.

The preop diet varies from doctor to doctor in addition to how much weight you have to lose. My surgeon told me he wanted me to lose 25 lbs but I had my surgery a little over a month after my first visit.
