Question about Sugar/Sweeteners

Recommended Posts

Ok. I get headaches from most "sweeteners". I also don't like the synthetic chemicals used in them. What kind of sweeteners do you use? Does the chemical make up freak you out? Or do I need to stop obsessing over it and bite the bullet? I don't use a ton of real sugar. Less than 1/2 tsp for a 12 Oz of hot tea. Sometimes I use honey. Any helpful thoughts or comments on how or what to do about my sugar use? I guess I know that I have to just stop and/or talk to my Nut about this. But I want to know what you've done. You thoughts on sweeteners. Thank you in advance.

I agree honey is an option, in moderation.

I am not a big sweet drink person so I add True Lime to my Protein Water and iced herbal tea.

There are some Protein shakes with stevia so that might be something that you like better. Any of the unflavored Proteins could be sweetened with stevia, honey or agave. For additional flavor the fancy vanilla brand (smith and something) makes a vanilla powder (no sugar added), sold in spice aisle where available.

Stevia is a source of sweetness and Fiber. Truvia does not count. If you read the label and it has something added it is chemically altered. Sweet Leaf is a fantastic brand. Look online for it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
