Is it normal to stall after 2 weeks?

Recommended Posts

I'm exactly 2 weeks post op and during this time I lost 16 lbs, but since Wednesday I've weighed 254 lbs (I usually weigh myself wed and Sunday and log it in my journal) I was cleared to work out so I've done 30 mins on the arc Trainor (it's like an elliptical) and walking around my neighbor hood etc. Been moving moving moving . I am getting plenty of fluids in and I get 75-80 GM Protein in. I'm following my plan I just don't know what's happening or what I'm doing wrong. I'm not drinking sugary drinks I only have Water, milk every few days, water, Protein Shakes, yogurt which is 0 everything, and now I'm on full Soups I'll do Tomato from Panera bread etc. maybe it's sodium from the soups? Is this normal? I know I already lost a significant amount which I wouldn't have been able to accomplish in a week let alone a month on my own but it bums me out to see that the scale hasn't moved in almost a week.

When did you have your surgery? When did you notice your stall? I will do measurements more so when I start weight lifting again cause that's when you gain muscles but lose inches. Right now I'm just walking so it's either Water weight or sodium from Soups, something idk! :-|

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery (give or take a few days).

Just follow your program.

Focus on getting in all of your fluids and Protein.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

And, Embrace the Stall

I had my surgery 6/14 and lost 12 pounds the first week (mostly fluid)....4 the next week and I haven't been able to get past 16 pounds!! It's VERY frustrating and depressing ????

We really should take scales away from people for at least 30 days after surgery (me too - I was obsessed!). Knowing the number or not knowing the number should have no effect on your behavior for at least the first month (I'd say longer, but let's get real). Meaning, you will eat/drink the same way and exercise the same way whether you've gotten on the scale or not.

I couldn't agree more. I only weighed at my doctors appointments for the first few months.

My surgeon told me to write myself a note and put it somewhere I'd see to remind myself that 2-3 weeks post-op the weight loss would stop. It's totally normal and just the body taking a moment to recalibrate after such a significant weight loss. It will kick in again soon. Just give your body a chance to sort itself out. It's all good. :)

Since you are 2 weeks out, I have heard that stalls are quite common at this very point.

In my situation, Would love to burn my scale...I am a month out and have lost a whopping 8 lbs!!! At first I thought, Sure, its a stall....but being a month out now and the scale still not moving (I even gained a lb) I think my situation is different.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
