Is anyone having the surgery done this October? If you are, what are you doing now to prepare for it? Any suggestions? I have started to workout, and eat healthier and I am starting to see some progress. .

To prepare - cut out any sodas, sweet tea, etc. Eat Protein and produce. Avoid Pasta, rice, bread. Use smaller plates. Eat slowly - away from distractions like TV. Mindfully eat - chew well and pay attention. The best thing you can do to prepare is get some therapy/help for emotional eating. You may not realize how much food plays a role in your life.

I'm scheduled for 10/12. I'm working on losing some weight between now and the end of September when I'll start the two week pre-op diet. I need to work on cutting out sodas and not drinking while eating. Not to mention trying out Protein shakes to see which ones I will like. I don't think I'm the pre-mixed shake type, but it might just have to do. Oh and I also need to start moving more.....I guess the only thing I've accomplished in the 4 days since I started working on eating less is not drinking alcohol. I guess that's something!! I'm a huge procrastinator, so I know I have to be better at this....

Not sure of the date yet, but it'll be sometime in October. For now I'm working on eating well (high Protein and veggies/low carbs) and moving my body more. Also cutting down on caffeine little by little (I'm down to one cup of half caff for now) and cutting back on alcohol (down to once a week or so - I wasn't a heavy drinker before but I usually like a glass of wine with dinner). Here we go!

I have a tentative date of 10/5. I have been walking between 3-5 miles a day, and cut out the starches and soda.

My surgery is on October 9, 2016. Two weeks before I will be on a liquid diet. I have started to drink a lot of Water. I am also a heavy smoker and am trying to cut it down before the two weeks which I hope to do 100% smoke free. I'm using my Fitbit watch to ensure I get to walk more.

I don't know what else to eat/do. I am self pay so it was just a matter of setting an appointment for surgery for me. I know others have to wait for 6 months and have time to get into diets etc.

Good luck to you all!

My surgery is 9/16/16 , I am also self pay... So from initial consultation to surgery will be 4 weeks! I am nervous!

Do you have an Instagram? You can hashtag #vsgcommunity and find a lot of liquid preop ideas on there. I am on my Day 2 Pre-Op diet, but I am allowed a small dinner (lean Protein & veggies).

Good luck!

That's a great idea! I'll look into it now. So is salt a factor during pre-op?

Just got my surgery date of October 4th! I'm excited and nervous... but mostly excited! I've been working to cut down on carbs and just start being more aware of what I currently eat and how I should be modifying that choice in the future. My goals between now & surgery (other than the 2 week pre-op diet) are to work on eating more slowly (this will be challenging), to switch from sugary to sugar free, and to work on upping my Water intake.

My last weigh in with the NUT is 10/3/16. The paperwork will then be sent to the insurance company for final approval. Tentatively my surgery will be 10/24 or 10/26. I have stopped drinking all sodas but will occasionally have a cup or less of coffee. I am trying smaller portions and giving myself more time to chew up my food. The biggest challenge I see coming is not drinking before/with/after meals. I love my water!!! With a smaller stomach, it might just prove to be the easiest!

Expecting a surgery date in October. So far, I'm cutting down on diet soda and alcohol, and drinking less with meals. For me, emotional eating is an issue, so I'm working on that. Trying to recognize the head hunger, and find other ways to satisfy my needs. I'm also getting exercise back into my life, mostly walking and dance videos. 10-15 minutes at a crack so far. Things are starting to get real...

Looks like I'm joining the October folks (was hoping for September) - surgery date 10/18/16 (Pre-Op diet 10/4/16). :-)

I can't wait - this has felt like a long time coming! I'm looking forward to being on the loser's bench!

October 6th surgery date. liquid diet starts Sept 22nd it's two weeks. I bought every thing but my Protein so far. I'm going to drink the Isopure grape flavor. It's pretty good and is 40g of Protein. I have started my Vitamins and really trying to not drink during meals that will be my biggest challenge.

I am buying some containers and a scale to help with food portions after surgery. I also bought popsicles molds to make protein pops. I feel like I'm ready. I do have a 2 yr old son who I will still have to cook for after surgery so I'm a little nervous about the temptations. But I know I have a a lot of will power.

I decided in May I was going to loook into weight loss surgery and after the first seminar I never smoked another cigarette. I just pretty much put it in my head I couldn't do it. So I'm going to do the same w the temptations.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
