Yesterday I was able to go to my first surgical appointment, I am a month and a half into the 4 month process and so far I have lost 11 pounds. I have been doing physical therapy twice a week and behavior therapy once a week. My nutrition appointments are three times per month, I was accepted into the UW program and I found out that the surgical procedure will be the gastric bypass. The Molina process is usually 6 months but I'm getting "fast tracked" because of personal motivation. The point I'm making is when it comes to your individual plan it is just that your individual plan, I track everything that goes into my mouth and every step I take. What ever myself and my team plan and decide I do, I go above and beyond, when I give my best I can not fail.

All of us are here for a reason and all of our stories that got us here are different, we all deserve to be healthy and happy. Our efforts will be measured with the pounds we lose, our bodies will not lie and our efforts will pay off. We can't afford to to fail, and motivation can be hard to keep going and sometimes we have to cheer each other on, we need to keep judgment silent.

We discussed the pros and cons of the 2 procedures that are offered, together with my team it was decided that the gastric bypass procedure was the best for my situation. I went in to this with out a preconceived idea as to what procedure I would have. I decided to take advice from the professionals that have both the education and experience to help guild me in the right decision.

I really liked what you had to say. Very positive. I am having the Gastric Bypass done on August 10. I go for my preop testing and see the nutritionist on July 26. I am excited and nervous at the same time.

Thank you for being so uplifting!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
