almost_sleeved123 8 Posted July 9, 2016 So I've been completely cleared for surgery and I'm just waiting on a date. I'm so antsy and I'm looking for something to do. So I've decided to get a jump start on a liquid pre op diet. Good or Bad idea? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
AML32 4 Posted July 10, 2016 I would say it depends on what your date may be. Do you know how long your surgeon requires you to be on a liquid diet? liquid diets are very hard to maintain. What I did was start a low carb diet a few months before my surgery. It definitely helps to get into ketosis before transitioning to liquids. You could do two Protein shakes & one healthy, low carb meal. Eating that way will help shrink your liver & get you into a healthy mindset. You may want to talk to your nutritionist to see if they have any suggestions for you. Also, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! almost_sleeved123 8 Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) @@AML32 Thanks for your help. My surgeon doesn't require one. It was something I researched on my own. Surgeon says high Protein low carb but no real guidelines. But I was nervous about doing just liquids after so I wanted to be more prepared than that.
