I've hit 2 major stalls in the past 7 weeks. That's not right :/ So here's my question:

I have been eating 800 calories a day, but I don't reach my Protein goal of 60 grams or more a day. I get about 40 grams a day - if I'm lucky.

My question is, if I'm eating so little calories, how is the weight not coming off? Prior to WLS, if I ate 800 calories a day, I would be losing it left and right. Why is the Protein so important in weight loss after WLS?

You need protein to heal and for weight loss. If you aren't getting enough protein then your body thinks there is a famine and it will do everything it can to conserve energy. I was told to concentrate on my protein target and getting at least 64 oz of Fluid. Calories are secondary. If you have to choose between going over 800 calories (which is an arbitrary number) to get in your protein then go for the protein. The quality and source of your calories is much more important than the number. 1200 calories of protein is much, much better than 800 calories of donuts.

So if I'm not meeting my Protein goals, I will stall more often. Correct?

The Protein shakes count toward the Fluid goal - right?

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience stalls. But, to optimize weight loss, you need to make sure you are getting enough protein. Sometimes, you may also need more fat and/or carbs. To me, the macros are much more important than calories.

I count all fluids (non-carbonated, non-caffeinated) towards my Fluid totals.

So, for an example, if you drink 3 Premier Protein ready to drink shakes, then I count 90 grams and 33 oz of fluid.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
