@outsideMatch Inside- thanks so much for the link to recipes. I didn't even know this was here on the site.

I haven't had my surgery yet but I'm already trying to prepare for this. With eating such small portions it just seems impossible to get as much Protein as required. Obviously it's possible, but it just seems like it's going to be hard. Unfortunately I'm allergic to a lot of foods (including seafood) so I'm going to be stuck with probably mostly chicken.< /p>

I can have sashimi which can be sushi but not always. Basically fish no rice/roll. This was allowed at my 3 week "mushy" phase.

I didn't worry at all about food until I was able to eat enough to get all my Protein from food. While I was on purees and softs I could do about 1/4 to 1/2 cup. I would try to eat one meal a day as food, to get used to eating again and to figure out what foods I could eat. The rest was just Protein shakes.

At about 4 months now I can do about a full cup of food. I'm still planning meals solely around hitting that Protein goal so some meals may be smaller than that and some may be larger. It doesn't worry me too much if there's a little left by the time I get full, if It's just a bite I'll eat it, if it's more I'll set it aside as a snack. I make sure to eat enough to get my protein but I don't push myself to finish it all at once. Since it's all planned out daily anyway even if there's some left over it's not actually extra food.

My surgeon's office actually annoyed me a little in how quickly they wanted me completely off the shakes because I wanted to take my time in increasing portion sizes.

I knew that title would get lots of folk to click, ready to chastise me....

But I do seriously have a question about overeating. Does anyone else find themselves still eating more than you should, not because you want the food but because you want the protein that's in it trying to hit your goal for the day? I push myself to finish my appropriate portions (1/4 cup, generally speaking) so I don't waste the protein and get it in.

I get more food per meal when I take a long time to chew and wait a couple of minutes for the next bite. I can get about 3 oz of food per meal and on a good day maybe 4 oz. if I over eat I feel like puking .

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
