I booked my surgery through Healthier Weight (in the UK) for the 18th. Paid the deposit and did the paperwork. Then they said I would get a call directly from the hospital about a pre-surgery appointment to take bloods etc. Granted my timeframes are short, but I waited two days and no call.

Got the call this afternoon wanting to see me Monday morning. I can't?! I already have something on Monday morning that can't be moved and that aside, if I wasn't lucky enough to be self employed - what employer would give time off at such short notice?

Apparently they ONLY do these appointments on Monday mornings. So he's going back to speak to a nurse on Monday about doing it another day.

I'm worried this will affect my surgery date, even though I agreed this date with the surgeon myself in person.

I chose this particular date because it works perfectly in terms of working around prior arrangements and running a business and organising doggy child care.

Just needed to rant. I'm nervous enough about the surgery as it is.

Hope you manage to get another appointment. You're paying so they should try and accommodate you if possible. I paid for mine in Manchester and the team have been really good. Keep us posted. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
