gowalking 10,790 Posted July 8, 2016 nice to see there are still folks being banded. I know it gets a bad rap but I've been extremely successful with it and at least I didn't do a more aggressive surgery...which I preferred not to do. Good luck ladies! 1 Louie'sMom reacted to this

Louie'sMom 5 Posted July 24, 2017 It is so nice to hear others's success stories. I am about 7 weeks post op, 11 days post my first 2cc fill and feeling discouraged and wishing I had done the sleeve, tho I KNEW band was a better choice for me in the long term. bridgetsband 16 Posted July 24, 2017 Louie'sMom, how are you feeling? In one week, it'll be my one year bandiversary. I'm still losing. It does come off more slowly than other methods but I'm not dealing with loose skin so we don't have to worry about that surgery... keep in touch.
Louie'sMom 5 Posted July 25, 2017 Happy Bandiversary! That is wonderful. I am feeling like I did before surgery. LOL Great that I am not having any negative side effects but also not having any restriction. You are right that not worrying about loose skin is a great plus. Can I ask how much you have lost in a year? and more importantly how you feel?
bridgetsband 16 Posted July 25, 2017 Thank you! I've lost 70 and haven't hit my goal yet. I started at 264 and want to get to a toned 180 or 175. I felt great for most of the journey. I did have to have my gallbladder out a few months after being banded which slowed my progress some because of recovering from that surgery. Other than a little reflux every now and then, I feel great! Feeling like you did pre-surgery is good; you don't want to feel miserable. I can recommend a cookbook or other things if you'd like
Louie'sMom 5 Posted July 26, 2017 That's awesome! I welcome any recommendations you can give. Thanks!

bridgetsband 16 Posted August 8, 2017 Have you seen your surgeon for a fill or done a 5 day pouch test/reset? I was at a plateau and just got the tiniest of fills - .1cc and it reset me. I noticed just enough restriction again.
Louie'sMom 5 Posted August 8, 2017 Can you explain a 5 day pouch test / reset please? I assume it is a liquid / soft / restricted diet but would like details. Thanks.
bridgetsband 16 Posted August 8, 2017 Sure! And because we live in a world full of disclaimers, I have to say I'm not a dietician but here is the link I used: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html but there are also a lot of mentions about it on this site too that can give good tips or different types of soft Proteins to try when in the different phases. Louie'sMom 5 Posted August 15, 2017 Thank you so much for sending this! Very helpful info. I have had my second fill since and am feeling a tiny bit more restriction so I bet a band reset would really help.
Rbecca89 2 Posted September 22, 2017 Hello all, I am curious as to why the band has such a bad rap? I am currently 1 month post band, has had a 2.5 cc fill and have lost almost 14 lbs. I do not feel a whole lot of resistance when I eat a meal but I definitely find I am for sure unable to eat even close to the amount of food I would have eaten pre band. I do think I feel about the same amount of hunger as I used to and I hope with more fills that will change but either way I am hoping with just the decrease in calorie consumption alone should lead to more weight loss.
