Stop weighing yourself. Most people don't start really losing a lot until after 6 weeks.

It is physically impossible not to lose weight after having this surgery. You simply can't eat enough to sustain your weight, so it will come off.

Be patient, follow your plan. Your body has been through significant trauma and on top of that has gone into shock because it thinks it's being starved. Give your body time to heal and catch up.

Agree with @@OutsideMatchInside! I had surgery on 6/21 and am not interested in weight loss at all right now. Right now, it should be all about following your nutritional plan and healing. Once you're back on solids and able to exercise, that's when you can begin monitoring your weight.

Thank you for this thread! I am 6 weeks out and not losing yet. I am terrified to eat anything without Protein in it (like fruit which I am craving) and I constantly feel full between getting protein and Water goals met. I am freaking out (because that's what I do) and feeling as if I am eating way too much. Tomorrow I plan to start tracking everything that goes in, just to prove to myself that I am not eating too much. My surgeon said not to get in a hurry with solids, so I still eat a rather soft diet. He also told me to eat as much as 1200 calories a day, as long as I get 90 grams of protein. I was feeling physical hunger because I was not eating enough until about a week ago. I am somewhat confused and overwhelmed with transitioning from liquids to solids, because with liquids you just sort of "keep it coming", but with solids you can't do that. I went through a quite thorough program prior to my surgery; I was given so much information and thought I was an expert. I am not. This is no easy path, so thank goodness it's worth the struggle if it works. I have to admit that I AM really wanting to start losing weight for the sole reason that I do not want to be one of the few who don't lose. I just can't imagine being able to lose anything much if I get 1200 calories a day. I lost more weight on my pre-op diet than I am losing right now and it's super frustrating. I almost feel like I went through this for nothing. My body seems to know how to get around it. I guess it's time to recognize that I will have to work just as hard as I did pre-op to get the same results I got then, which sucks because I wanted it to be a little easier...but then nothing worth having is ever easy. I just need to see some sort of advantage to having done this!

Thanks guys. I'm trying so hard to do all those things but frustrated when so many people are dropping like crazy at this point. I know we shouldn't compare our journeys to anyone else but it's hard not to!

I'm right here with you. Had my surgery 6/21. Lost 14, then gains 2 because I moved to soft foods too early. I'm now back on liquids and Soups to ensure I do this right.

I'm starting to work out and I'm consulting with a fitness coach as well. I like to weight my self a lot too, but I'm going to stop cause I know it's not gonna move fast at first.

Don't worry, we got this

@@albare1978 - I remember coming home and utterly wierded out that I GAINED weight. It was a WTF moment. Then I remembered all the IV Fluid they stuck in me, and it made sense. Then I couldn't poop for a while. But things started working again. Part of it I think is the body goes into a "oh dang there must be a famine, must preserve the fat mode" for a little while (isn't evolution grand?) Just work the program and be sane. It will happen. Physics eventually wins out.

Anyone else not losing weight? Surgery date was 6/20. I lost 8lbs and nothing more. So afraid I will be one of those who doesn't lose anything.

Don't worry about it at all. Think about how swollen everything still is with gas, Fluid, etc. Everyone is different, of course, but give it some time, stay off the scale and follow your plan. :)

Also, don't forget to walk when you can! Good for the body and the mind!

VERY normal - but you will see a post like this from almost everyone - me included - I started losing weight when i stopped weighing myself - except for 1 day a week - and even when i was in the first stall i still had to tighten my belt.

I was sleeved 6/22 and lost 15 lbs the first 2 weeks and now since adding in solids have hit a stall. But I am not worried. This early on my body is still healing and adjusting so that is my focus: hitting my nutrition goals and hesling. The weight will come off as everything catches up!

I was sleeves on 6/21. I have lost 14 lbs. the scales stalled. So I decided to measure myself. I have lost 13-3/4" since surgery. Look at your weight loss as a positive move forward. It will happen. Stay off the scale. Focus on Protein and fluids and learning how to transition into a new way of eating

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
