deanieluv6 70 Posted July 8, 2016 I had gastric bypass on may 25th. I've lost 50 lbs, in the last week or so my back has been hurting so bad. Is this a common thing after surgery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Djmohr 6,965 Posted July 8, 2016 @@deanieluv6 If you did not have back pain before surgery it could be kidney stones which is very common after WLS. I suggest calling your surgeons office ASAP I hope you feel better soon.
deanieluv6 70 Posted July 8, 2016 I went to ER, so it's not kidney stones. They said it couldn't hurt to have a MRI done Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Shrinking_Violet 10 Posted July 12, 2016 I had moderate to high back pain every day starting around 3 months after surgery and lasting about 3 months. My surgeon said it was from my body adjusting to the rapid weight loss. I used a heating pad to help relieve the pain just about constantly (not continuously, of course). I have no back pain now, but I also didn't have back issues before surgery. Hope this helps!
