I had gastric bypass on may 25th. I've lost 50 lbs, in the last week or so my back has been hurting so bad. Is this a common thing after surgery.

Way to go, 50lbs!!! I had gastric bypass may 24th...I haven't experienced any back pain. Did you suffer from any back pain before surgery?

If you did not have back pain before surgery it could be kidney stones which is very common after WLS. I suggest calling your surgeons office ASAP

I hope you feel better soon.

I had moderate to high back pain every day starting around 3 months after surgery and lasting about 3 months. My surgeon said it was from my body adjusting to the rapid weight loss. I used a heating pad to help relieve the pain just about constantly (not continuously, of course). I have no back pain now, but I also didn't have back issues before surgery. Hope this helps!
