So. My surg date got moved UP to Aug 1.

I really would like to know if it is allowed to wear some sort of bra post op? I hate the thought of people in my room and just letting the girls out...

I know i prob wont even give a rat's behind after surgery, but for whatever reason, its been on the brain today.

I had an incision just below my left breast, and ooooooh man, I can't even imagine putting a bra on, let alone a constricting sports bra, while feeling that fresh incision and all the gas pain that travels up to your neck and shoulders. If the docs are okay with it, it's still going to be an "as tolerated" thing, and I'm betting you won't want to tolerate that pain and discomfort. But hey, you never know, maybe you'll be one of those rare people who woke up after surgery, started walking laps with ease, and felt great. Here's hoping! Good luck to you! :)

I also had an incision below my left breast and did not put on a bra until I left the hospital. Strangely, sometimes after I eat I feel a lot of pressure from the band around the bottom a bra (even though the bra is not tight). It's great incentive not to over eat!

I didn't feel like a bra right after surgery but the next day when I was released I did put on my cozy bra from Walmart. I think it was around $7 or $8 bucks. I also have an incision under my left breast it's nothing like a sports bra super super soft and for me just enough to not feel like my breast are just everywhere. I had gastric bypass on June 27th.

I've never heard of a belly band so I had to google it. I would consult your surgeon if it would be ok. I hAd very little discomfort post surgery and never had to use prescribed pain meds. Good luck to you and congrats!

They wouldn't let me put a sports bra on during my stay, but I did out one on for the ride home as I was dying to get covered up. The closest incision I have is in the middle about 2 inches from my bra line, so it's not an issue at all.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
