Congrats! My worst gas was day 4 post op. But maybe that was because I was not on the pain meds like at hospital.

Best of luck to you!

Oh boy, did I hope the CO2 gas wouldn't be an issue... But here it is!

I had my gallbladder removed and I have to say, the CO2 gas was the worst thing I experienced with the gallbladder removal. It hurt so badly that it felt like someone was breaking my arm slowly while prying a knife through the join. I don't know if yours is this bad; I surely hope not. I haven't had my GS surgery yet, but I am hoping I don't have to deal with the gas pain like I did a few months ago. Don't worry... The CO2 pain from abdominal surgery is extremely common, and normal.

I'm usually an extremely positive person, but it would be wrong of me to tell you the CO2 pain was a piece of cake. I was unable to lay down (even at a reclining angle) for 3 days. I had to sleep sitting at a 90 degree angle. I don't know if it was just my body handling it differently than others, but Lord have mercy!

I will say this... They tell you to walk because it really does help. I was like, "Walking to ease the pain? That sounds crazy!" But that was the only thing that made the pain go away completely. I would be on a pain scale of 9 from laying down, but as soon as I stood up and started walking, the pain was completely gone in about 5 seconds. Crazy, right?

But, it is a very good sign that you are doing well. Like I said, the gas pain is normal when it comes to any surgery involving the stomach. You did it, girl! You are on your way to good health! Remember to walk if the pain gets bad. :)

Also, the pain should go away in about 2-4 days. That is the average. Some people do well when reclining (I didn't. But that's my luck, lol!).

Thank you so much you guys!!!! Yeah, this pain is pretty ridiculous. If it wasn't for it, I would say I feel normal if it wasn't for it. Laying down is definitely terrible and I'm not sure I will be able to sleep on an incline

I was moaning like baby in recovery. I think that is why they inserted an additional pain med via pump. I did not care for having a "purse" to carry around that was inserted to my abdominal area but my pain was relatively easy to handle. It got better every day.

Heating pads are the best!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
