as you stated you are only a week out, give it a little time for your body to adjust. IF you are talking about an A1C blood sugar test it could take a little while to see a change as it looks at basically a three month window of your average blood sugar.

Your body is healing from surgery. This will play havoc on your blood sugar levels. Give it a little time.

Hi I feel your concern which is why I'm posting today as well I've been battling with diabetes Now for 25 years and I take 5 injections per day. Somehow I am looking for immediate gratification ok a cure. I really just want to stop taking injections immediately but from reading the posts I see that I'm living in my imaginary bubble however I'm still working on patients and hopefully the surgery will help me

Same boat. In fact, I had the sleeve surgery mainly to control my sugar. I was disappointed the first week because it was still over 200 but I learned from previous ways of eating, that it takes a few weeks to lower. Don't get discouraged! It WILL come down. I was on metformin, Victoza, and glipizide before surgery. I took myself off the victoza and glipizide but still take metformin. My sugars are always good and I will find out my a1c in August.

Good things come to good people.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
