3wks post op on reg food

Recommended Posts

Help!!! I converted from Lapband to bypass 3wks ago and at my 2wk appt my doc ok'd me to have Wendy's chili and chicken and ground turkey etc as long as I chewed it well. I'm assuming she transitioned me because I had a previous surgery. However, preop included I lost 39lbs but since real food I'm back up 4lbs. I know about the 3 week stall but wouldn't I had lost more staying on liquids/ purée/soft food stage longer. I feel like my doc sabotaged me. Anyone else transitioned early per doc and gained?

What are you eating on the new diet? I don't think your doctor would want to sabotage you, so that's probably not the issue at all. Doctors all do things differently.

Are you getting Protein first? Plenty of Water? Could that time of the month be here or coming soon?

It's frustrating I'm sure, but as long as you're following a good diet with protein first, lower carbs, and getting all your water in, it will work.

It's my understanding that a revision patient doesn't lose as quickly too. Keep that in mind.

After RNY gastric bypass surgery, the three most important requirements are meeting your Protein, Fluid and Vitamin daily requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Weight loss is achieved by meal volume control. During the first 8 weeks following surgery, I was limited to 2 ounces of food per meal, 3 meals per day. That is a minuscule amount of food, only 1/4 cup per meal. This volume was slowly increased over the next 1 1/2 years to 1 cup per meal.

My program limited me to Full liquid stage for the first 4 weeks and the pureed stage for the next four. Then I transitioned to solids. So there is nothing in my opinion that would prevent you from slowing down your transition to pureed foods. The main reason for liquid and pureed food stage is to allow your staple lines time to heal in your stomach. So if you transition to solids too soon, that would be my concern (not weight gain because your meal volume is incredible small.)

The following article describes my experience with RNY gastric bypass. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise when cleared.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
