Never thought I would say it but now 8 weeks out and haven't lost a pound in a week and a half. Does any one have an idea how to get the metabolism jump started? Nothing has changed still getting in all my Water and 700 to 800 calories per day.

I'm 4 months out and in the same boat....I've learned that you just have to ride it out and let your body play "catch up" .. It's very frustrating I know!

stalls are a normal part of the process. Keep following your plan making sure you're hitting your Protein and liquid targets

700-800 calories per day is not much, so unless you are very small, it's possible that you will actually lose weight if you loosen that up a bit to 900-1000 calories per day - which would still be pretty low caloric intake...

You mention calories but not Protein. What is your Protein target? Protein is critical for healing and weight loss. Eating enough protein helps keep your metabolism stoked. My target is at least 100 grams. At 100 grams, 700-800 calories would be extremely low, especially if you are exercising intensely. It sounds like you aren't eating enough. What does your NUT advise?

Ways to keep your metabolism revved:

Eat frequent small meals and Snacks of protein

Exercise and move your body

Stay hydrated

Get enough restful sleep

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate and we all experience stalls.

Follow your program.

Track your food.

Get at least 64 oz of Fluid a day.

Reach your protein target every day.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise.

And, Embrace the Stall

I am in a stall right now. I am five months post op, and over the past two weeks, I haven't budged a pound. I've been doing the same thing, watching calories, carbs, and Protein. It is annoying but I know it will pass. Just trying to stay off the scale. This is my third stall since surgery in February. Hang in there!

You are not alone! I am six weeks out and stalled since week 4. Admittedly, I was not hitting my Protein OR Water goals consistently until last week, so I kind of knew I wouldn't lose much more until those two things got sorted out. Now, I am just waiting for the process to start again. I soooo desperately want to see that scale move, but I know it takes time for the body to adjust and get going. I hope you have good luck and get "un-stuck" soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
