It depends. Someone please find the link to the lady who took off everything to make weight for her insurance company. One of my favorite stories.

@@melindakreeger - weight is really just a retaliative measure of success. Anyone here knows we fluctuate several pounds every day. Clothes are not that important just keep it honest and consistent. Don't play games with yourself. Keep it honest.

I think I was doing better before I bought my fancy scale and started weighing myself like a crazy woman lol

@@melindakreeger If you mean at your doctor's office during your pre-op visits it's just like when you weigh during any doctor's visit.....You have your clothes on....normally take your shoes and jacket off......

When I weigh myself at home first thing in the morning I do that with no clothes... :-)

I've never heard of any doctor's office making you change into a gown in order to weigh....and certainly never in the nude! With that said, if it's important that you not gain any weight during any of your visits pay close attention to the clothes you wear during your weigh-in and make sure to not wear something really heavy for the next one especially if you think it'll be close. :-)

Good luck to you!

Do you have to get nude or in a gown for weight checks? I dont mind gowns, but Id rather not get fully nude, im too embaressed :( Should I not wear coat/shoes/etc?

Mine are fully clothed. I normally take off any "extra" clothing or accessories, to keep it as close as possible to my at home nude weights.

I went in to my primary care dr. Guess my at home scale is off :( Im 5 pounds off from getting the surgery covered. Thats a bummer :( 5 pounds!

If you're like I was, you won't be 5 pounds off for long.....don't ever give up hope.

You should absolutely not expect to be naked at the doctor's/hospital for your weigh in!!! Typically it's just shoes and jacket off as many have said.

During my 4-month multidisciplinary period (for insurance purposes), I did choose to get down to my bra and knickers to arrive at a very specific weight I needed to be for the 4-month period. I only had a nurse in there with me, so it was no big deal.

Ok I was wrong, I assumed I was off by 5 pounds. After talking to my drs office to confirm my BMI, I do fit the criteria. My BMI is 35, I weigh 219 & height is 5'6". Sooo my question now is, since I cant afford to lose ANY weight, how will that work with these 6 month diet plans I hear everyone tell me? When I called Medicare, they told me I need documents that diet plans have failed, nothing about 3 or 6 months at a drs office. I dont know, very frustrating:(

I'm right there with you. I just started using a more expensive "precise" scale and I literally feel addicted to weighing myself lol smh

Your doctor will most likely advise you to maintain your weight for six months. Insurance companies are often not helpful when telling you what you need so when you speak to your surgeons office they will give you what you need.

I would just recommend light clothing. It wouldn't be much difference in the weight between weighing in with a light dress and no shoes vs weighing nude.

I don't let the scales rule me. If I weigh every day, or every week even, I would drive myself nuts and be too obsessed. I know this, so I never bothered to change the batteries on my scale. I TRY not to make it only about weight and actual pounds. I test my sugar (diabetes) since that was the main reason I finally decided to have the sleeve. The weight loss and shrinking is a benefit! Good luck and don't stress too much!

My insurance required 6 months of weight monitoring by a physician. My surgeon did not require any weight loss. My nutritionist said "that doesn't mean you can't try." My insurance wouldn't pay if I fell below a certain BMI. It is definitely a quandary. In the end, I lost 18 pounds during those 6 months (just 4 on the pre-op diet.)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
