I keep reading about the need to walk after surgery in order to alleviate gas pains. Are we talking about farting or some other type of gas?

Well, gas is used during surgery to expand your abdomen. Walking helps release the gas..and yes you will fart. My nurse kept asking me if I farted

There's a lot of gas trapped in your stomach area after surgery and walking helps loosen it up so to speak.

Yes, walking and lots of Gas-X got me through it. I've also found that even though I'm nearly a month out, I burp a lot more now too, it's strange.
