deevadee 2 Posted July 7, 2016 I turned 50 this year and am at an all time high weight, Feel tired and winded all the time. I live in Texas and the heat is unbearable. I am a very outgoing non shy person, but with the heat, nothing to wear and just the way I feel about myself, I have become a home body. Today I scheduled my sleeve surgery for July 29, 2016. I am very excited to get this journey started. I found this form tonight and hope it willl give me some education as well as encouragement along the way. Anyone else had sleeve surgery and started at such a high weight and age? Feeling hopeful and a bit scared to fail.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted July 7, 2016 Welcome! I started at the same age but at a much higher weight than you. I have lost over 200 pounds and still have a ways to go but I have absolutely no regrets.

endlessquest 20 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) Im a guy...I had my sleeve at age 55 and was 348lbs. I'm now 4 months out and down 110lbs. I'm off all medications, off insulin, diabetes is in full remission, sleep apnea gone, 4x to xl in shirt size and 52 to 40 waist size. No regrets and life is great! Don't get me wrong, this is a tool and not a magic fix. I've worked very hard working out every day, walking and riding my bike. I've also followed my nutritionist eating plan to the T and not cheating with red flag foods. mbarrow01 11 Posted September 29, 2016 Hello, I'm 51 and my starting weight is 374lbs. I am scheduled for surgery on 11/7. My biggest worry right now is recovery time. I'm having to take unpaid leave for the surgery, so the sooner I can go back to work, the better. My surgeon recommends 3 weeks off work, but says I may be able to go back in 2 weeks if I can guarantee him that I won't be doing any pulling, pushing or lifting. For those that have had surgery already, how long were you out of work afterwards?
Sai 785 Posted September 29, 2016 Wow, such inspiration in this thread! I look at it this way, in 10 years, you'll be ten years older anyway. In 20 years, you'll be 20 years older anyway. Might as well do it now, and be healthy for the next 30+ years ^^
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 29, 2016 @@mbarrow01 I was out for two weeks. I was still a little tired when I went back but I managed. If you can, maybe you could do 6 hour days for your first few days back just to make sure your energy will carry you throughout the day.
