I'm so excited to finally be at this stage! The only thing I am most bummed about is that my nutritionist said I need to drink regular milk with my Protein shakes because I need the calories :( I have been drinking almond milk or soy milk for years... I will follow what she says though. I'm just excited to July 21st to get here and get this done and continue the next step of my journey!

.... You HAVE to listen to your nutritionist... But mine said unsweetened soymilk is a good choice. I haven't had milk in years and it would make me sick to drink it. Listen to your body as you follow instructions and call her fast if you get sick.

I will call her if needed. Hopefully I'll get through the milk part.. I did ask if it could be skim.. she said 1% was better but skim would be okay.

@Harsha
LOL - so many complain about the Protein shakes - but for those of us who do not drink our dairy the Protein saves the day.

What Protein shake are you using? I'm 3 months post-op and still drink one Protein Shake a day. I used Shaklee pre-op found it chalky. Nurse gave me a sample of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury which mixes beautifully but find it a bit sweet. I'm currently using Inspire Caramel Latte mixed with coffee and 1% milk but I'm getting bored with it....

I like aria and have used a brown rice Protein for about a year. I am worried about using the mandated types suggested by my nutritionist so I have purchased the unflavored Bariatric Pal Protein broth. Thank heavens she allows the protein broth and the joe product as well. It is decaffeinated but has the flavor. If only I could continue my products... But she said there is not enough protein in either of them.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
