Five month stall and hair loss HELP!

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved on Feb 8th and had been losing well down from 344 to 264 then 4 weeks ago it just stopped. I have stayed within the same three pound range. I am not eating differently and I am moving more. The only thing I am losing is hair which is coming out by the handfuls. Please give me some advice! Thanks!

I think it's fairly normal - I am between 4-5 months and my weight has been staying mostly the same for about 3 weeks. Granted I've had a lot going on (a flare up of auto-immune - steroids - and a death of an immediate family member) but still - stalls are frustrating a bit. When I have been paying attention to other things I noticed my body is really changing - my face and stomach are smaller. Have your measurements changed?

now that my immediate trauma's are over it is time for me to get back to my main focus being on my diet (Protein Protein protein) and moving my body. gentle yoga and walking for now.

I hope to soon hear from you, and experience for myself, that the scale will be moving again too!

Stalls are a normal, natural and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a lot of weight, you will experience stalls.

Unfortunately, Hair loss after surgery/anesthesia is not uncommon. Not everyone loses a noticeable amount of hair, but some people do. It will grow back. The best thing you can do is make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Are you taking Biotin at all? I recommend 10,000mcg per day, it works wonders on hair and also the beneift of strengthening nails :) It won't stop hair falling out, but the hair regrowth is noticeable - in my experience anyway.

My hair is already coming back ! I was sleeved in November 2015. I also used a Protein Shampoo I'm not sure if it made it better but for me mentally it did.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
