nina1562 35 Posted July 5, 2016 I was sleeved June 23 and everything was going great until last night, I was sitting outside enjoying the night when I felt my stomach wet, I went to the bathroom to check and my big incision where the port was, was bleeding my sweater and my blouse were wet from the blood. I panic right away and called my bariatric doctor and he told me it was common and as long as I didn't have a fever or pain I was good. It's still bleeding a little today. I have my 2 weeks post op this Thursday but I was wondering if anyone experienced something like this? PrinceVanHalen 97 Posted July 6, 2016 Yes I had it for around 3 or 4 days after surgery. I put neosporin on it, put gauze on it and taped it up. That helped soak up blood and Fluid. I changed it daily and it finally closed up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
nina1562 35 Posted July 6, 2016 @@PrinceVanHalen thank you so much for responding...I got really scared yesterday since I was doing so well and all of all sudden I see all this blood on my sweater and shirt and that's what the doctor told me to do except the neosporinpart, I will put some on and then cover it...hopefully it will get better soon Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

I think the neosporin definitely helped it close up faster. Hopefully it works for you too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

nina1562 35 Posted July 10, 2016 Mine is not bleeding any more my doctor told me just to leave it alone cause its just blood that accumulates sometimes and it needs to get out and it sure did, it took like 5 days to stop bleeding but it did...I was so scared but thank God it was nothing to worry about. Oh and I did put neosporin like @@PrinceVanHalen told me and I think it helped a lot so thanks again Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
PaulStephens1975 62 Posted July 10, 2016 I had black blood coming out of mine. You can take pics and send to doc if you are worried. Warning signs to look out for are puss or putrid smells. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
heather5565 959 Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) It's sounds like old blood just wanting to get out, usually your body just absorbs it up but it is common that your body tries to extract a hematoma (a pool of blood) It came out of one of your incisions because it was a way out. If you get a fever, if your incision gets flaming red, hot and swollen then there's something to worry about. If your incision starts draining pus and if this pus has an odour then that's something to get checked out for sure. But I think you're ok from what you are describing. Good luck and congrats on working at a newer healthier you! Edited July 11, 2016 by heather5565
