Did anyone experienced bleeding incisions?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved June 23 and everything was going great until last night, I was sitting outside enjoying the night when I felt my stomach wet, I went to the bathroom to check and my big incision where the port was, was bleeding my sweater and my blouse were wet from the blood. I panic right away and called my bariatric doctor and he told me it was common and as long as I didn't have a fever or pain I was good. It's still bleeding a little today. I have my 2 weeks post op this Thursday but I was wondering if anyone experienced something like this?

Yes I had it for around 3 or 4 days after surgery. I put neosporin on it, put gauze on it and taped it up. That helped soak up blood and Fluid. I changed it daily and it finally closed up.

@@PrinceVanHalen thank you so much for responding...I got really scared yesterday since I was doing so well and all of all sudden I see all this blood on my sweater and shirt and that's what the doctor told me to do except the neosporinpart, I will put some on and then cover it...hopefully it will get better soon

No problem! I think the neosporin definitely helped it close up faster. Hopefully it works for you too.

I was sleeved June 28th and yesterday one of my incisions started bleeding. I cleaned with peroxide, neosporin and put gauze on it.

Mine is not bleeding any more my doctor told me just to leave it alone cause its just blood that accumulates sometimes and it needs to get out and it sure did, it took like 5 days to stop bleeding but it did...I was so scared but thank God it was nothing to worry about. Oh and I did put neosporin like @@PrinceVanHalen told me and I think it helped a lot so thanks again

It's sounds like old blood just wanting to get out, usually your body just absorbs it up but it is common that your body tries to extract a hematoma (a pool of blood)

It came out of one of your incisions because it was a way out. If you get a fever, if your incision gets flaming red, hot and swollen then there's something to worry about. If your incision starts draining pus and if this pus has an odour then that's something to get checked out for sure.

But I think you're ok from what you are describing.

:)

Good luck and congrats on working at a newer healthier you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
