taprice2 21 Posted July 5, 2016 Hello all. I am 1/2 day post-op and had my procedure as an outpatient. I am really feel good considering it has only been half a day. I know it has been talked about before but I need information on sleeping positions. I'm really having a problem with lying on my back so have been lying on my side. Is this okay? Is one side better then the other? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
MissKay 329 Posted July 6, 2016 Yeah, I had to lie on my back for the first week, no other one was comfortable. Even now, I still get a weird feeling if I attempt on my stomach or my left side. I've found that the right side is better to relieve pressure from the stomach since the stomach is more on your left side under your heart.
missengineer 19 Posted July 6, 2016 I was able to sleep on my belly on the second night without problem. I can't sleep very well otherwise. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App
SunshyneRN 4 Posted July 6, 2016 I slept on my belly with my leg up on a pillow to ease the pressure but for me the pressure against my stomach helped me. The pain does get worse when full anesthesia wears off Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Sophie74656 1,572 Posted July 6, 2016 I found comfort sleeping at a 45degree angle in my recliner for a week
UCLA man 101 Posted July 6, 2016 I have always been side sleeper and didn't change post op. I was never told not too sleep on my side nor did I find it uncomfortable. Perhaps this falls into the 'Everyone is different' category.
taprice2 21 Posted July 6, 2016 Thanks everyone for your responses. Even though I am a stomach sleeper too, I feel a little to bloated for that but side will be good. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

goplay94123 575 Posted July 6, 2016 I slept on stomach fairly soon after. It actually felt the best. And my dr said as long as it doesn't hurt, any position is fine. I actually thought it helped with the gas Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
