BariBlanca 3 Posted July 5, 2016 I'm about seven weeks post op and I am having problems sleeping. No pain or anything like that but I just can't fall asleep . Has anyone else had this problem? I'm wondering if it is related to the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
James Marusek 5,244 Posted July 5, 2016 As I lost weight after surgery, I also lost the fat in my legs. As a result, I found that when I slept on my side, the bones in my knees would rub together and this was uncomfortable. This was an easy fix for me, I just slipped a pillow between my legs at night and all was well. I don't know your exact problem. Before surgery, I found it difficult to sleep on my back but after surgery this condition changed for the better. Also I found out that never, ever eat before bedtime. Digesting food in a horizontal position can cause major discomfort.
Djmohr 6,965 Posted July 5, 2016 I have had trouble sleeping mostly related to my weight loss. I believe it is because my bones tend to rub together. I used 3 pillows when I sleep but I also have severe osteo arthritis that causes me to have to change positions frequently. Trying to align your spine, knees and hips is challenging for me. It has really been in the last 6 months that this has become harder and I am 22 months post op.
