Lucky I forgot already what prep did you have to do before the two day liquid?

My last preop appt was the 19th. I immediately started the two week 1,200 calorie diet. Then today and tomorrow are liquids. I'm super excited but getting nervous. Do you go to the support group meetings? They're pretty informative.

Great, I'm glad it's not two weeks of liquid. I'm going to support group this Sat. I can't wait to hear how all goes for you I'm so excited for you. I'll be nervous too like you but its all so worth it.

Hello to both of you... I got a denial on mine from insurance...so I have to do one more month of supervised diet. But that's ok because that appointment is next week. Good luck on the liquids Lucky. I can't wait to be at that point. I'm getting so impatient. Wish I was in Des Moines so we could all go do a smoothie lunch or something. My 2nd grandbaby is due in November and 3rd one in April. Very exciting stuff. Nana I'm so sorry I hadn't been in touch lately. Will have to be better at that.

Tomorrow is coming fast!!! Excited but I can feel my anxiety bubbling too. I'm glad I work today. It'll help keep my mind off it. I keep thinking, "what am I doing??? Cutting off 80% of a perfectly good organ!!" lol. I know, I know.....It'll help me get this monkey off my back. food has dominated my life long enough. I'm ready to take control and enjoy activities more than food. I'm ready, still a bit scared though.

How long do you plan to be off work?

I've taken three weeks only because that's what the surgeon suggested as a reasonable amount of time. I don't think I'll need that long, but I guess I won't know until I see how it goes. I work with special needs individuals and most of my work is sitting, driving, walking, bending....no heavy lifting. And I only work a few hours a week right now. We'll see. If I feel up to it, I may go back sooner. I'll miss "my kids". ;-)

Good morning! I'm on the losers bench! New chapter is beginning. :-) Everything went very smoothly. No complications. No gas pain. Very very little nausea. I took a shower and brushed my teeth this morning. I think I'll be going home around noon. Dr LaMasters is amazing. Her whole team is amazing. I've been following her rules to a T. One things that's bothering me is I'm exhausted. Taking a shower wiped me out. This will get better though. I think it's a combination of the surgery and all the meds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
