Any Iowa sleevers?

I'm so glad to hear you ladies are doing good. I love that we are all at different stages so we could get different views on our journeys. Stay warm all.

I need to ask for prayers if you don't mind. Not surgery related... my older sister has had leukemia for 8 years, she was in remission for a long time...but last year her cancer was active again. She's gone through so much. She has 2 sons ages 13 and 8. My mom and younger sister are taking care of them. Recently she has gone through a muscle deterioration that has caused the hospital to place her in a nursing home permanently. After numerous attempts at physical therapy, they said she has no hope for recovery. She's not even able to feed herself at this point. I'm so scared she's just going to give up. My mom is going to raise her kids. My nephews have been through so much with this. I'm going down there to Missouri for a week to help the family pack up my sisters house, and moms house to get them moved to a place that can be big enough for the boys and mom and my younger sister. Please pray for my sisters recovery. I'm not convinced this is it for her. I believe in my heart she doesn't want to leave her babies. She's only 44. There just has to be more. I'm worried about making this trip in bad road conditions, but I also don't want to miss spending time with her.

On a good note I get to meet my new grandson and see my granddaughter. Yay me.

I leave in the morning (Saturday) for Missouri. Please keep saying prayers for my family to be in a better happy place....and my sister to experience a miracle for her and her kids sake.

I'm doing really well. Just started puréed stage on Wed and I'm really liking it. Can have a much wider variety of foods. I was so ready liquids were getting very old and I was feeling hunger. When do you get to go to puréed? How are you feeling otherwise?

Pam so glad things are going good for you. I have to tell you how important it is to sip on Water and get 64 oz everyday. Since I started purée I didn't drink like I did on fluids and yesterday I had the worst headache and so tired. My clinic took me off work rest of week and to do fluids for an entire day again. I never thought this would happen to me because I love Water. But with the smaller stomach purée fills me up and I totally ignored my water. Just so you are aware. They say water is always first.

I'm glad you get to eat. I wish I was losing weight too fast. I've been stuck for 2 weeks.

Congrats on your progress!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
