Nana1222 159 Posted September 30, 2016 Yay I'm so glad you are doing so well! I've been dying to hear from you! So happy for you!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App What pain meds did they give you after surgery do you know? I'm so worried about that most meds make me sick to my stomach and cause headaches. Luckygrl 87 Posted September 30, 2016 They gave me Tylenol in my IV and morphine if I needed it. I just pushed the button if I was starting to hurt enough that I couldn't rest. I'm really not in pain. A couple of the incisions are sore but my stomach mostly just feels like I did way too many sit-ups. They've sent a prescription home for pain too if I need. If you have a tough time with certain meds, just tell them. They'll try to find something you can have.

Nana1222 159 Posted October 1, 2016 How are you doing today how was your night? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Luckygrl 87 Posted October 1, 2016 I've been pretty sleepy. My hubby wakes me to walk, drink and take meds. Tummy feels really bloated. May start colace today cause I'm having a hard time going. Lots of burping. No real pain from incisions. My lungs feel burny and full so I do the breathing thing quite often. Overall, not as bad as I'd anticipated. I'm hoping to get some energy back soon. But my body has been through a lot. I'm sure it needs the rest. Hiccups hurt. Coughing hurts. The kind of pain you'd get from too many sit ups.
Nana1222 159 Posted October 1, 2016 Thank goodness for good hubbys! Glad you are doing ok. Sounds tolerable can't wait for your energy to come back for you too. Hope you have a good rest of the night. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Nana1222 159 Posted October 2, 2016 How are you feeling Fran? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
frananp03 110 Posted October 2, 2016 @nana1222. I am feeling great now. The first 3 weeks were pretty rough from a nausea standpoint. I had terrible reflux which was contributing to my nausea. So once that was under control i could actually get down Protein and Water and start to eat. At 8 weeks out I have a great amount of energy and can eat 1-2 oz of fish or chicken. It really takes a lot of work to figure out what and how much to eat. I had minimal surgical pain.
Nana1222 159 Posted October 2, 2016 So glad you are doing better Fran. Did you have reflux before surgery? I know it is a side effect of surgery too. Did they give you something for that? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I did have some reflux before hand. They make you take something the first 3 months anyway I believe. I had to take an additional medication called carafate for 2-3 weeks and it is much better now.

Luckygrl 87 Posted October 2, 2016 I'm doing well. Struggling to get more than 30g of Protein right now. I've been getting in 60oz of Water though. Sounds like my surgeon is ok with that for now. I've been a bit sleepy. My surgeon doesn't want me napping more than 30 minutes but I crashed for two hrs. No real pain. Just tender and sore. Horrendous breath even after brushing. My lungs feel a bit heavy and burn a bit, which I've been told is normal. Still using the breathing thing to expand my lungs. Overall doing well. Ready for some energy to return. And I'd really like to get more protein in. One day at a time.
