1st Day of Pre Op Liquid Diet- Surgery in 8 days

Recommended Posts

For me it was the Diet Mtn. Dew withdrawal. Note to self...there are a bunch of rather addictive food additives I'd rather not ever have in my system again. F*** them. I'll stick to good and natural.

I used to live on caffeine. I quit two days ahead of the surgery even though I was told to quit earlier. Now I am allowed to introduce it back but and resisting the urge. What is the point? These bad habits were what got me in this place in the first place.

English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times!

I didn't get a headache till 10 day on my diet. Starting tomorrow is 1st of 3 days liquid diet..ho hum....Surgery is on Monday the 11th. I have already managed to lose 9 lbs :D I guess the hardest part is cooking for the family and not eating what they are eating but i'm kinda of glad i've had these 2 weeks to adjust to my new life, with each day getting a little easier.

Today is my 3rd day, I felt really weak throughout the day, I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. I'm not even hungry, just very very tired.

How are you feeling?

Doing ok. I'm on day 8. It's mostly just trying to keep food out of sight. On my second day I was so exhausted I had to take a nap in my car on my lunch hour. But since then it's been better! Hang in there

I don't know how you people manage to go through weeks of liquid diet. I was told to go on liquids two days prior to the surgery only and I don't recall being that miserable in my life. Even after the surgery was only tough because of the nausea. Day two of the liquid diet, I was so pissed off, I wouldn't even talk to anyone.

I can and I will.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
