veramunoz 12 Posted July 5, 2016 I had the VSG on June 29th my problem is I am starving mentally. I have chewed a couple things up then spit it out just to get the flavor. Ugh..... when will I be able to eat? How long before I don't feel these crazy cravings and one of the cravings was pickles I never really been a fan why now? I'm also feeling a bit depresed. SiSSi829 36 Posted July 5, 2016 Ditto over here. I'm also feeling kind of depressed and I chewed stuff too to have a different taste in my mouth other then Jello and broth. My Dr says that I'd have to wait till my 3rd month post op to be able to eat regular foods but I just don't knw if I will Make it there Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

veramunoz 12 Posted July 5, 2016 So are you still on liquids? Or have you switched to pureed yet? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
SiSSi829 36 Posted July 5, 2016 I'm on liquids still. But I do chew stuff up and spit them back out. I've also had some of my kids Cereal ( 2-3 teaspoons full) and felt kinda full to tell I the truth. And it did take that jittery, weak, dizzy feeling I was experiencing at the time. SiSSi829 36 Posted July 5, 2016 I went to my dr for my week follow up and he sent me liquid Protein to take 3x's a day. It's helped with that almost faint feeling but not with the hunger. I don't really know what to do anymore. I'm literally hungry every hour. SiSSi829 36 Posted July 5, 2016 I've gone on YouTube and I read on other places that I'm not an alien from outer space and that I'm not the only one feeling like this. I just don't wanna fall into a depression stage cause I'm kinda prone to that. I'm thinking of calling to follow up with my nutritionist and see what she can help With. SiSSi829 36 Posted July 5, 2016 Yup. Totally understand what that feels like not only at home but at work as well since I do manage a cafeteria to top it off. I'm just so annoyed and I feel a bit of regret at times too. Bufflehead 6,358 Posted July 5, 2016 I'm sorry you are both struggling with these issues post-op. I really want to encourage you to reach out to your respective health care teams for help in dealing with the physical and emotional stresses of adapting to life post-surgery. I know chewing and spitting seems harmless, but it is recognized as a form of disordered eating, and it is how many bulimics get started. Please don't head down that road! It can also mess up your metabolism. Best wishes to both of you going forward.

SiSSi829 36 Posted July 6, 2016 I soo feel left out with everyone talking about these Protein shakes. This is what my Protein consists of. 3 x's a day. Even though it hasn't done squat for my feeling hungry it has been good for the weakness, nausea, sleepiness and lightheadedness that I was experiencing after getting out of the hospital Gastric Sleeve Surgery 6/15/16 Miami,Fl 33yrs/mother of 2boys /5'6" highest weight 300s in 2002-03 lowest weight 193 in 2014
