So i have to agree. You ate fat and carbs and milk also has no good dietary value. Should have eatend egg, or peanuts, some tuna. Look for high Protein foods with super low fat and little to no carbs. Good luck dear. Dont beat yourself up. Educate yourself and adapt!! :)

Another suggestion to help with the dizziness is to drink some Powerade zero or gatorade g2. It will give you some electrolytes your body is missing on the clear diet. Whenever I feel weak or dizzy I drink that and feel much better.

Atkins has a Protein drink that isn't horrible (I despise Isopure!):

https://www.atkins.com/products/atkins-lift-protein-bars-drinks/protein-drinks/lift-berry-flavored-protein-drink

Bone broths also have more Protein in them than regular broth.

Anything higher in protein (not more than 30g's in one sitting) and drunk slowly (over 20-30 minutes) will help with feeling fuller. Good luck!

@@SiSSi829 I may take heat for this.. but two months of liquids is insane. If you think you feel malnourished and weak now.. I can't imagine what it'll be like in two months.. I know this because quite honestly I felt how you did and not really like a full human being again until two weeks when I was able to have pureed food.. the Protein drinks and Soups and the like just didn't give me enough energy. I would consider looking at other plans from other hospitals and picking something more moderate... - like a common one is 2 weeks full liquid, 2 weeks puree, 2 weeks soft food, then reintroduce new foods gradually.

Like I said people may massacre me for suggesting to go against your doctor's wishes but I can't even imagine how on earth they would expect you to do two months of liquids.. most people struggle to do two or three weeks... You may find the need to educate yourself because it's better to be prepared and educated about what to do if you just can't handle it than wind up eating bacon again next time. This happened to me.. by 7 days in I was so sick of liquid I was either going to not get anything to drink that day or I was going to have some real food.. I just couldn't do it.. So I researched what I should try at the next phase (puree) and did the most gentle options (scrambled eggs with cheese, cottage cheese, and refried Beans pureed) it helped a lot and I know it was the right decision for me PERSONALLY whether my doc would have been okay with it or not.. And I was prepared for that because I'd researched what came next.. If this happens to you again.. and you have some research down.. then you'll know what you can have puree wise if you become desperate. Just my thoughts.

Also.. don't beat up on yourself.. bacon wasn't maybe the best choice.. but all you can do is go forward from here.. don't feel depressed and give up! 20 pounds since June 15th is a LOT I'm losing slower than many people - 26 pounds total since my pre-opp diet began on May 18th and Surgery may 31st.. but I believe that even though I may be slow going... It'll stay off better if it comes off gradually. I'm losing enough to still feel successful.. think about what you'd be losing without surgery - it'd come off far slower than 20+ pounds per month. Hang in there!

@@Christinamo7 same thing I said. And I totally I totally understand the harm that I may put myself through. But it's not easy cooking at home for the family and working around food close to 12 hrs. Some folks just don't understand and I don't need them too. I joined this app because I thought I was the only one or that I was just being selfish. Many things are a lot easier said then done. I've gotten to point of depression and regret.

@innersurfergirl. I've tried everything u have suggested. I have the enhancers for the Water. Drinking Water has never been an issue nor do I not like drinking water. The only thing I haven't tried is the infusions. I'm gonna see how I do with those.

@RobertD16. I feel u're pain. I was hungry on day 2outta surgery. I was confused on weather they were gas pain though but then I got up, walked around went home and still had the same feeling. I started reading around the net and I've read of folks get so hungry they eat mashed potatoes and stuff

I had the lapband and had an revision on June 14th. I have been on a liquid diet two weeks before surgery and it will be July 29th before I am off. It's hard but I'm so scared that I will get a leak. I can drink up to 5 Protein shakes a day. You can even have chicken broth and as many sugar free Popsicles as you like. Just stay strong it will be over sooner than later.

Well here we go again. So you ate a couple bites of bacon shortly after surgery. The best idea? No....lol...even I waited 2.5 weeks for some bacon. It didn't kill you, you haven't developed a leak, and you are still on the losing track, however slowly that may be.

It's unfortunate that your Dr regrets giving you the conversion but the fact remains that he did.

Here's my advice on this matter:

Do not put up with disrespect from your Dr. Yes, he's right about the bacon but this is the deal - you pay him for his services. He is not God, does not know everything, and quite frankly is crazy as hell to ask you to stay on Clear Liquids that long. If he cannot speak to you respectfully, no matter what dumb thing you did, then replace him. Immediately.

Don't eat bacon yet. Wait a little longer.

Don't let anyone, whether a medical professional or a member of an internet forum, tell you how YOUR body will react to any situation. You know yourself, you know your body, and hopefully after the bacon incident you will know that you need to use your best judgment.

Oh and PS: it isn't actual hunger you are feeling. You probably don't believe that. So go ahead and think what you'd like until you figure this thing out. But it isn't hunger. It's your head. I say this because I've been there. Back in the day I even went so far as to tell some members of this group that they didn't even know what they were talking about..lol. Well they were right. I wan't hungry. My head and my emotions wanted food.

You'll be ok. Just open your mind to the fact that there are many bridges you will be crossing post op. You think you know them all but you don't. A whole new world of self-discovery is waiting for you.

Maybe find a new doctor? A different surgeon for better advice.

I think your doctor is trying to force you to lose more weight with such an extended post-op diet... maybe he sensed a lack of total self control?

Eating bacon, Cereal, and milk is certainly more than your stomach can handle right now. All doctors will agree on that.

Your stomach is not producing the necessary enzymes and acids to break down such rich food, and you can damage your new stomach.

Everyone makes mistakes, but it's important to understand why they are mistakes and learn from them.

Harshness isn't going to help you to do that, instead you'll lash out and defend your mistakes, which is not the right reaction either.

That being said, at least you didn't do anything more drastic.

If you're feeling weak, it's time to start experimenting with different Protein sources. They'll help and be within your dietary restrictions. GENEPRO, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, premier, etc etc

Lots of different Protein powders and shakes, there's something to suit everyone's taste!

I can't handle thick textures and overly sweet either, so I love GENEPRO because it just adds a milky taste to anything I mix it with.

Hey SiSSi829,

I rarely look at these boards anymore since I am now almost 5 years post-op, but your title with “HUNGRYYYY” caught my eye.

First off, I want to congratulate you on your 20 lb. loss so far. All of us “experienced Sleevers” will tell you that it’s a roller coaster ride in terms of weight loss after bariatric surgery. You’ll drop a lot at times and then may go months sitting at a plateau. The fact that you have already lost what to some is a clothing size …. relax and take it all in!

Before I go on, I want to say that I was on another site when I first got my sleeve and in the first little while once back on solid foods, I went online and asked a question that caused mayhem! Never mind your slice of bacon!!! And all I wanted to know was if the amount of food I was consuming was normal compared to other sleevers.

SiSSi, on these boards, you can get a lot of thoughtless and hurtful replies. I felt the need to first tell you, and others reading this, that it happens and you just have to try to dismiss those replies. (I didn’t even know what a “TROLL” was until I started being called one!!!) I’ve looked back at the string of replies to your original posting and have seen some very caring and thoughtful responses. (And as I type this, another two nice replies were just posted.) Please focus on these and for the rest, just realize that some people have “issues”. (I guess we all do, but some like to try to take out their frustrations on others here on these boards.) I just want to reassure you that when you go through your moments of frustration and questioning whether or not you did the right thing, WE ALL GO THROUGH THAT! Keep your chin up and before you know it, you’ll be back on solid foods again.

So, now on to your hunger. I see that you have verified your post-op instructions with your doctor and your nutritionist. (Does your nutritionist work hand-in-hand with your doctor? That might explain why they both agree on what you’ve been told.) As you can see from some of the replies you’ve received, a lot of sleevers do not go a month on just Clear Liquids. Since I’m not a doctor and I am not a lap band to sleeve conversion patient, I don’t know if there is a reason for you to have more stringent post-op requirements than the rest of us. I was wondering if you would consider contacting another bariatric surgeon/doctor in your area for a second opinion. There may be a consultation fee involved, but I think it would be well worth the money. (There are also some bariatric surgeons out there who give free advice online or by e-mail but if they don’t know your medical history, it might not be a wise thing to consider.)

A few people have said this to you and I do agree…eating a slice of bacon as soon as you did is really taking a risk. The biggest complication with sleeve operations is leakage. Because I was an overseas patient at the time of surgery, my US surgeon asked that I stick around in the States for 2 weeks after surgery. I was told that it is in that time period when most leaks that will occur…occur. I don’t want to scare you but it probably explains why your doctor reacted the way he did when you told him what you had eaten. He is concerned for your health and well-being.

You do have a reply which mentions "head hunger". Yes, that is possible. Head hunger does exist. I was on Protein shakes for the two weeks pre-op, and then for some of the first month post-op. Honestly, I don't think I have had another Protein shake since that time. I can't stand to even think about them now! When you're on such a strict food regime for a month or more, your mind can play tricks on you. It is possible that you came out of surgery after already having deprived yourself of "real food" beforehand, and then your mind told you, "STARVING...GET THE FRY PAN!!!" :-) Anyways, no one can really speak for that except for you so I'm not going to continue on that topic. And anyways, I'm not a food nutritionist/psychologist. However...

Did you know that a good number of sleevers develop issues with acid after sleeve surgery? Some of those people are fine within a few months and some are not. However, acid build-up in the stomach can cause you to feel hungry. In my case, even when I was downing the liquid Protein drinks, I felt hungry and full at the same time. It was the strangest feeling. I went on Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs like Nexium) and for the most part, my intense hunger went away. SiSSi, I know of others in my situation so it might be something to discuss with your doctor.

Wishing you much success in your weight loss journey.

@@crazyplantlady & @@BingeEaterToSleever Thanks for your concern and for breaking things down for me as well as u did. The reason that I did join this forum was for some ideas and support not to have any1 pity me. I suggestions on what to do. I suffered with G.E.R.D prior yo My surgeries an my dr did prescribe the Omeprazole which is for reflux so I think I'm good on that part. I also read that dehydration can cause the hunger feeling too but I don't feel dehydrated. but then again all is possible.

I am a gluten free lactose intolerant vegetarian that is 8 days post. My doctor told me to attempt to chew a piece of lunch meat the amount you would give to a 1 yr old. I have what feels like constant hunger pains that are not alleviated by it was uncomfortable but at least I have a bit of energy to already do more than go to the bathroom. I was consuming less that 300calories for the last 3 weeks pre thru post. So I am horribly malnourished..hydrated but mal nourished. Dr advised me to try to take in anything not acidify, sugary grainy or fibrous. So I will try to eat 1 bite every 2 hours plus a Protein drink if I can manage (if I can do that I will be up to 450cal/day) dr said I was indeed hungry and my body is in starvation mode so I will not lose weight of i don't get my calories in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
