Best protein powder- mixed and premade!

Recommended Posts

Hey I am newly sleeved as of last Monday June ,27,2016 . I am looking for Protein powders and premade drinks since this is all so new to me. Before my surgery I was weightlifting and using Body Fortress whey powder in vanilla, but it's 20gm/protein per scoop. Looking for ones with higher protein. I have no problems with getting liquids down so I would love to know what premade liquid ones work for you guys as well as how much Water do you typically add to your powder? Thanks!!!

I like premier ready to drink, GNC Lean 25, Syntrax Nectar, Unjury, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, and even carnation instant Breakfast essentials.

You can get premier at Walmart, costco, etc.

Try GNC or anyplace that sells GNC for the GNC Lean shake. I get it from Drugstore.com online.

You may be able to order sample packs of the different Syntrax nectar's by phone from the manufacturer. I was able to do that over a year ago. They may also have it at GNC or a store like The Vitamin Shoppe. You can also order tubs of it online from places like Drugstore.com or Amazon.< /p>

The Batiatric Pal store has a variety.

Bariatric Choice also has things like the ProtiDiet brand. I like their hot chocolate, too.

You can get Unjury only from their website and so also believe you can get it from the BariatricPal Store.< /p>

Some drugstores have Protein Shakes.

Just make sure you read labels and try samples before you purchase large quantities to make sure you like them and they are bariatric appropriate (look at the carb to Protein ratio).

GNC will let you try samples and even return things I believe.

Where did you buy your Protein before? I went to my local Supplement store, told them my needs and they made suggestions to me. If it hadn't been for them I would have never found the awesome unflavored Protein Powder that kept my sanity so I didn't have to keep drinking sweets every day. My local Supplement store has better prices than Amazon, and they will give you a sample of powders in the store.

I haven't done any of the premade ones yet. I am using Optimum Nutrition's vanilla flavor powder. It has 24 grams of Protein per scoop and was recommended by my doctor's office. It isn't overly sweet to me.

I mix it in a Blender Bottle with 8 ounces of Water for most shakes. I have found one shake that I really like b/c it's not very sweet at all. It's 1 scoop of the ON powder, 4 ounces of Fairlife milk, 4 ounces of Water, and 2 tablespoons of PB2 powdered Peanut Butter. Not thick either.

My other strong recommendation is GENEPRO unflavored powder. It's 30 grams of Protein for one small scoop. I am a seriously picky eater and thought it would bother me, but it really doesn't taste like anything much. I have even added it to a cup of iced tea and all it did was make the tea taste powdery LOL. But easy to drink.

So the flavorless protein does it leave food a different texture? Say if I mix it in cream of wheat? Etc

I think it changes both texture and taste for me. (Unflavored doesn't mean it's tasteless )

Premier Protein is the way to go. Walmart, Sam's Club, Amazon. Bariatric Advantage is THE BEST powder which you can get on their website.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
