So I know the point of wls, is to change ur life and ur body for the better. Does anyone ever wonder if it changes everything about who they currently are? Will I stop being strong? I had to move my entire house by myself, will I still be able to handle what I need to? Will I still be able to protect myself? For the longest time my fat was my shield, that's why I stopped running so long ago... instead of running till things felt like they worked themselves out, I ate my way into a bubble. I'm scared to be vulnerable, that thought alone makes it hard to breathe. I've seen tons of pics of ppl after wls and I've seen so many who looked sick, I don't want to look sick. Anyone else a worry wort? What are your biggest worries?

I would say most people experience a more vibrant good health afterwards, and many you see that have had surgery you don't know because you can't tell from looking at them.

I know I tried to move a bookcase by myself about 10 days ago. could have done it before, but I have less weight to throw around and I did have to get help. That's ok, but it is an attitude adjustment for me.

I am sure other things change as we re-evaluate our relationship with food and with moving our body. As we set and attain new goals. this is a good thing, and makes us better. Sometimes we need a little professional help to make and learn to live with those changes, that is absolutely perfectly ok! sometimes we just have people in our lives that meet that need.

this is a good place to get that support as you go through the process.

As @@Christinamo7 said, I do find I have less weight to throw behind things to move them making that more difficult; however, being 150 pounds less, I am stronger in other ways like doing yard work (I have hauled and put down 30 bags if mulch this last week and not only was I able to do it without dying, I haven't been sore afterwards. Used to a few hours of yard work made me so sore I was barley able to move for days afterwards.)

My best advice to "not look sick" is to do all the things you should - Protein, fluids, Vitamins and exercise. I know that seems a little oversimplified but those things are vitally important.

As to the emotional part of it, your feelings are normal. Losing weight definitely exposes all those feelings we had previously hidden with fat and buried with food. I highly recommend seeking therapy. It is has been my best tool to deal with these rapid changes!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
