@@russm How are you doing?

The recovery has been much easier than expected, but the first few days were tough. The biggest hurdles were drinking Water post op. It took about a week to be able to comfortably drink the required Water in small sips. I rarely go anywhere without a water bottle as I am drinking throughout the day.

For me the worst part was having to take crushed medications, luckily i was approved to take all meds in pill form on my follow up 10 days after surgery.

I lost 15 pounds on the pre op liquid diet and have lost about 16 pounds in the three weeks since surgery. Started at 282 and now at 249 - my goal weight is 200.

I go back to work on Monday. Hoping my energy level holds up.

@@russm that's awesome! Glad you are doing well. I got my meds in liquid form, and one anti nausea is a patch I put behind my ear. Maybe they can change your meds to liquid?

The liquids made me vomit due to the artificial sweeteners. I do better with the pills.

Good luck with your surgery next week!

I am in Walnut Creek. I had my VSG on March 3, 2016...but it looks like I need a revision to a RNY. I'll be having it done at Travis AFB again of course. I told my surgeon that my sleeve is his handy work, and I don't want anyone else messing around in there! I am pretty hesitant about the RNY, and I'd like to talk to people that have done it. Please message me if you'd like to chat, or email me at: aschuttpelz@gmail.com

Thanks!!

Hi! My name is Dotti and I am 10 months post op. Have lost 80 pounds and have started to really working out daily. I live in Fairfield and had my surgery at DGMC. Anyone on here that far out post-op wise as me? Having any issues with getting enough nutrition?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
