Hi I've seen some people recommend a binder for after surgery? Did anybody use one? Did it help you? Where did you get it?

Thanks you

I didn't use one but am glad I didn't. I put a pillow in my car and used it once. I really didn't need it either. I'm 10 days post op and have no pain at all anymore. I only needed pain medicine the first few days. It has all been much easier than I was expecting. Maybe I just lucked out?

I used a binder and the nurse got it for me. It helped the first days to walk around hospital. I also slept with it and used it at home a few days when my muscles were just sore it provided support when i felt like i needed it.

I did not use a binder. I actually didn't know they existed until after the surgery. I kept a pillow with me and if I felt like I had to cough or something, I held that close. That helped quite a bit (and it didn't cost me anything).

I didn't use a binder at all. Honestly I did not have pain, just a bit of discomfort from the gas. I simply walked that off after a few days. The first 2 were tough.

I didn't have one and didn't really need it. I did find a few pairs of bike shorts that helped support me without being too constricting that helped, but I didn't need anything as tight as a binder.< /p>

My hospital gave me 3. When I woke from surgery they already had it on me. I had a c-section and that recovery was worse. I think it was easy this time around due to the binder.

I had issues with my lungs after surgery. I had little pockets of mucus so I had some bad coughs. My doc heard me and prescribed a binder. That was a life saver. It hurt so bad to cough I tried not to, which is bad. With the binder I could cough, and even get out of bed without help those first few days.

I would say try it and see if it helps you. You don't have to wear it if it doesn't.

I got one from Amazon and used it for like one or two days post op.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
