I am 12 days post op and am wondering if I can try a sunny side up egg? I've done well with cottage cheese and butternut squash Soup from Trader Joe's but getting tired of eating the same ole, same ole. I'd love ideas to expand my pallette. Thanks!!

Are you cleared for soft foods or still on full liquids?

If you are on soft foods you can try it. Just keep in mind that some people have difficulty with eggs early out

I'm on week 3 - soft foods. I had my first scrambled egg this morning, and it was delicious! No problems! It's my understanding that you just don't want to overcook the egg, so over easy sounds like it would work!

Awesome, thanks for letting me know PrinceVanHalen. You and I are on pretty much the same schedule it looks like. My surgery was 6/20.

I am 17 days post op and tried an egg. It did not sit well with me. It sounded so good but it just didn't work for me

I was allowed to try eggs in the puréed food stage so I cooked basically a sunny side egg and mashed it with a fork til it was good and floppy(like I fed my babies when they were eating mushy foods). It went well for me, but some people have a really hard time with egg especially in the beginning so if it doesn't work, table it for awhile and try again later.

Thanks for the reply. I tried deviled eggs but the egg whites didn't taste too great. I used to love sunny side up eggs so we'll have to see. However, my favorite way of having one is on a piece of toast. Alas, that chapter is over.

My surgeon recommends waiting til 8 weeks out for eggs. Apparently he had several patients that had issues with eggs and recommends waiting now. I found it surprising as soft scrambled eggs are commonly mentioned as early soft foods.

My date was 6/20. I had eggs yesterday morning and they didn't sit well at all. I had horrible indigestion and gas pain from them. Thought they were going to come up for a while. Of course all our "pouches" respond differently. Hope it works out well for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
