Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. Found it when looking for support sites/forums.

I was just sleeved this past Monday (June 27). Today is the first day I've felt somewhat "normal" again. Able to do light household stuff/moving around. First few days were a bit of a haze. And gas pain! Oh my lord. Just trying to get through that.

I've been graduated to yogurts/puddings/soups coffee/tea and believe me after a week of broth broth and Jello this is a god send!

One issue I'm having slightly is when I urinate I get slight pain. Anyone know what this is possibly related to or from? Post op issue? My surgeon advised to go to a urologist.

Very excited about my new journey. I was a blur blue and emotionless first few days but today My emotional IQ and endorphins kicked in I guess! (Maybe it was the 4 oz coffee w/ half half that did the trick!) lol.

Great stories on here and looking forward to reading more success stories.

Andy

I am guessing the pain is because you don't intake as much liquid. I don't really have too much pain but my urine is like a darker shade of orange.

@@AndyNicks - That is not a complaint I hear about on this forum, but did they do a catheter? I had one with my appendix operation. Hurt like a mother coming out and burned for a while. Long list of things that can cause that type of pain but that's what urologists do. (And remember, the proctologists get you in the end). ;-)

I agree moving from liquid to Jello and yogurt is great. Congrats, can't wait to hear about your progress.

My pain began when I started Clear liquids and I was urinating 20 times a day. It felt like my uretha was irritated all the time, not just when urinating. When I awoke from surgery the catheter drove me crazy. The resident said I had uretha stricture. I didn't have much confidence in his opinion though because he only spent about 5 minutes with me.

So the irriration continued for about a month post op. I went to my primary care physician and he thought perhaps I picked up an infection from the catheter but I told him it was irritated before surgery begining when I went to Clear Liquids and urinating 20 times a day. He took a urine analysis (needed to rule out STDs) and referred me to a urologist.

It took 2 weeks to get an appointment with the urologist and during that time I reduced my liquids consumption so I wouldn't have to urinate so frequently. The irritation has improved so I cancelled the appointment with the urologist. I'm going to give it some more time before I consider seeing the urologist because I believe he's going to want to stick a scope up in it.

Is any of this the same for you?

Hi OKC, no catheter was not used thanks god. They were threatening me with it all day after I woke up on surgery day Monday. I tried 3 times to go to no avail. Finally they gave me a deadline if I didn't go by 10pm they would insert catheter. I muscled out of bed right around 10 and waited and waited.. Finally like a faucet lol. Filled the jug; gave it to nurse and attempted to go back to sleep.

I'm wondering if it's because lack of of Fluid intake post op. Like above poster says, although I'm drinking 3 16 oz Poland spring Water bottles plus crystal light. Can't believe how long it takes me to consume 1 16" bottle of water! Damn!

Hi UCLA,

No, I haven't come close to 20 times a day urinating. I don't think I've even gone 20 times since Monday. 2 times a day has been my average.

I'm going to just monitor it and should the discomfort increase I will make appt with urologist ASAP. It's not terribly painful just more annoying. Than anything.

Hey Andy,

Sorry to hear about your urination issues being thrown on top of everything else. I just got sleeved June 30 and I haven't had any issues going to the bathroom, except I haven't had a bowel movement...anyone have an idea when that takes place? I can certainly empathize with the gas issues - that was rough buts its mellowed out for me. Gotta say I'm a bit jealous, I'm still on broth for a few more days - so looking forward to getting through the diet stages. Good luck with things!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
