Mostly yes. She lost 130 lbs initially and has fluctuated with about 10-15 lbs, but has kept it off for the most part.

People don't have gallbladder issues because of the surgery. They have it because they lose weight in a short period of time. Before I got the sleeve, I had lost 100 pounds within 12 months and had to have my gallbladder removed so luckily I don't have to worry about it.

Agree with SGC, I also lost a lot of weight on a previous diet (and then immediately got pregnant), and those two things killed my gallbladder.

one of my incentives for having the WLS was I do have gallstones for years, sometimes it flares up/sometimes not so much. More and more as I put more weight on I'd get those horrible twinges and this has been confirmed by abdominal scans.. So I knew I did need to have the gallbladder removed and as my WLS surgeon says, now I get two surgeries for the price of one. The one being the WLS of course which I'm sure is way way more, but being covered by BCBS.

This is correct. Your doctor can give you a medication(actigall?) that helps protect the gallbladder. My doc prescribes it for six months following surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
