Tomorrow I start mushy / puree food Yeah

Recommended Posts

Breakfast suggest Special K with milk but I got to let them soak till their mushy.. I don't care as long as it's not in the form of Jello or broth :-) I get also Protein, cream Soup and yogurt . I'm looking at the menu like I'm looking a the menu of a fancy restaurant. Tomorrow cannot get here early enough. :-)

Today is Canada day so everywhere around me there's barbecue smell (burgers, chicken) this has been the hardest day so far. Also first post op activity which was strawberry picking. which sucks now that I found out I can't even have them in purée cause of the seeds :-( .

but Lost 6.5 pounds since surgery Monday (june 27)

Congrats on the weight loss! I feel your pain about the BBQ smells, this is a big holiday weekend because of July 4th and everyone is buying ribs and steaks and corn and all kinds of fabulous stuff to grill and I'm stuck with full liquids until next week. Yay. Plus no beer, no margaritas. But I've lost 14 lbs since my surgery on the 21st, so I'm focusing on that. Or trying to, anyway :) One bright point is that I'm able to have a couple of tablespoons of oatmeal mixed with milk...I had no idea something could taste sooooo good. I'm already looking forward to it tomorrow!

Remember ladies, that anything you "crock pot" and then put into the blender you can have on a pureed diet.

That opens up allllll kinds of weird but wonderful ideas.

Crock pot some ribs with a light Bar-b-q sauce and then blender it. The taste is there, if not the appearance. It resembles a pulled pork. --and is delicious!

You can do the same thing with a chicken and diet root beer. I know. It sounds "strange", but try it. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Be creative and think outside of the box. The pureed level can be one of the most "fun" levels. You just "gotta wanna".

Good luck playing mad scientist! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
