I had to stop all Vitamins and supplements for a week due to an outpatient surgery. All along I thought that my horrendous Constipation was due to the high Protein low carb eating. What I discovered this week, is that without the Vitamins I go with ease like a normal person. It was amazing! It's the vitamins that are causing me so much trouble in the poop department! Is there a brand that is not so constipating? Maybe I should switch brands. I am currently taking BariActiv multi-Vitamin and the caramel Calcium chews with D3 from Bariatric Advantage. I checked the multi's and I do not see Iron on the list. Maybe it's the calcium chews?

I simply take a Dulcolax every night. I have been taking it since my knee replacement 5 1/2 years ago.

Life is much more "smooth" since doing so. :)

Are you taking the stool softener or the laxative? I accidentally bought the Ducolax laxative pills once. Big mistake, I can't take that stuff!

Dulcolax softener. I'm sorry--I should have told you that.

It really has helped throughout the years.

Thanks, I've been using Sam's Club softener. I probably need to up the Water intake to get it to work better.

You can get constipated from Calcium. I've taken it for a few years and I've found I do much better if I take it every other day. Now that I need it more than ever, I think I'll have to rely on stool softeners as well.

I have been taking a generic stool softener with laxative every single day or I don't think I would ever go again. LOL.

Honestly having IBS before surgery and always having to know where the closest bathroom was. I thought being constipated wouldn't be so bad having never had that problem.

Let me tell you, I would MUCH rather go all the time than not go at all. My belly don't like being constipated. Therefore, I make damn sure that doesn't happen.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
