Day 11 Of Pre-op Diet Surgery July 5th

Recommended Posts

Day 11 of pre-op diet and my surgery date is approaching fast. I must admit I am nervous! Is there anything special that should be doing to make things a bit easier for the day of surgery? Also I was going to continue purchasing Protein shakes from my surgeon's office but purchasing both the Protein Shakes and Vitamins are very expensive at $73 per month. Any suggestions on a less expensive Protein shake? TIA

@@DivaSoBlessed yay you are so close to surgery! Re: Protein shake, I use Premier Protein from costco and I spend about $30 a month.

As far as your day of surgery, I found that taking care of all my chores (house was clean), having my support network rallied (errands etc) having my fluids ready (not too much, tastes change after surgery) and also gathered my comfort stuff (movies ready, soft comfy clothes ready etc) made my transition home easy and allowed me to focusing on healing and sipping. There are some good threads on here about what to take to the hospital, too.

Best of luck to you, will send you positive energy on Tuesday!

@@Butterfly123 Thank you so much! This is good information. I've already started on my household chores. I'll have have my movies ready to go as well. I am also going to look for the Premier Protein shakes this weekend. I need to pack a bag for the hospital so I will check the forums on what all I should bring. I appreciate your help. This is exciting!!!! ????????????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
