I had excruciating pain with the tiniest sips of Water no matter if it was warm or cold. Every time I drank Water, I felt like I was going to die. A pain I had NEVER known before. It would frighten both my husband, children, and myself. The intensity was almost horrifying. I did research and found out that it was not unique to me. Others were and had experienced the same. Someone said that adding about 3 to 4 drops of organic lemon juice per 8 oz would increase the ph of the water from acidic to alkaline. I tried it and it worked. All the pain of drinking water disappeared. Hope it helps.

How was your pain after surgery? I am POD 1 and the pain after I take even the smallest sip is excruciating. Even with pain meds it takes breathe away. When does it start to go away???

Mine was horrible. It was so bad it caused me to vomit right after surgery because it wasn't controlled well. By day 2 I felt better but still had gas pain. They kept me an extra night as well. By day 4 I really didn't need the pain meds anymore. Heal well and feel better soon!

I felt the same. Lol, like labor pains in chest. Goofy but raising my arms above my head and straightening my back a little helped after I took a drink.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
