I have always been a stomach sleeper. Obviously after surgery, I couldn't do that. I tried sleeping on my back but it feels suffocating. I tried rolling to one side or the other but I have a big stomach and it felt like things were pulling. So ever since surgery (9 days out), I have been sleeping in a chair. I'm pretty tired of sleeping in a chair to be honest and I am wondering how long before I can get a more comfortable night's rest? Thanks in advance!

I slept on my stomach from the 4th night and it was so comforting. It helped with the gas and the pain.

I would suggest wearing a binder or some kind of compression so you can sleep on your side and you might just roll on your stomach if you are comfortable enough.

I was still in pain that fourth day. I am 9 days out. I would like to try it but a little worried I will mess up the incisions or even mess up something inside. Lol.

I use a small pillow to support my stomach if I sleep on my side and it helps with the pulling feeling.

I was able to sleep on my side pretty early - day 3/4. But I couldn't sleep on my stomach until close the end of week 2.

I did find that propping pillows under my stomach helped when I started sleeping on my side - that way I was on my side, but the pillows kept the belly from pulling down so much.

IM naturally a tummy sleeper. I have been falling asleep on right or left side since 1 weeks post-op, now I am 2 weeks postop and I wake up on my tummy. No issues here.

I am typically a side sleeper but this was not always comfortable post surgery. I am sleeping with 2 temper pedic pillows to be a by more elevated and I have a large floor poof/pillow under my legs. I did this after a couple of restless nights where I almost moved to chair because I would nap with legs up in chair but couldn't get to sleep in bed.

Try putting pillows on either side of you. That's what I did. I purchased two king size to keep me off my tummy

I couldn't sleep on my side for about 4 weeks. A binder might help. But I just had to deal with it and sleep on my back. It's only temporary. This too shall pass.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
