Stillmissing 35 Posted July 1, 2016 I only took one capsule so I opened it up and put the beads on my tongue being careful not to chew them (extended release). It was easy to swallow. But if they are small it should be ok. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

SunshyneRN 4 Posted July 4, 2016 I am 5 days post-op and I have to crush my meds as well. I am having a difficult time for they are very bitter and make me nauseous. I try to mask the taste in FF pudding but liquid is the way to go. Best wishes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted July 4, 2016 (edited) Hi everyone! I'm scheduled to be sleeved July 25th. I'm on three different daily meds; Lisinopril (for high bp,) Celexa (for anxiety/depression,) and Klonopin (as needed for anxiety/panic attacks.) I know during my recovery post-op, some meds are difficult to swallow. I did speak to my nutritionist about this, and she recommended asking my doctor if my medications come either in dissolvable forms or liquid. My doctor said to speak with my pharmacist which I'm planning to do, but I wanted to ask here if anyone had trouble taking their daily meds and/or pain meds after surgery and during your recovery period? As always, thanks in advance. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App I didn't have any problems taking my meds orally after the surgery. I was taken off Lisinopril pre-op and the surgery caused a lowering of my blood pressure so I didn't have to go back on it! But I take 2 different allergy meds, something for my fibro pain and Lexapro...I haven't had issues with any of them. I talked with a pharm-D before my surgery and he suggested that I try taking things as I currently do (none are coated tablets or capsules) and if they all seemed to be working fine, to stick with that. Otherwise, I would have had to switch fibro meds to a liquid and take children's varieties of my allergy meds. When you talk with the pharmacist, he or she will be able to help you a great deal. Good luck! Edited July 4, 2016 by ShelterDog64
