BCBS Ill & / True Results...

Recommended Posts

Just curious if anyone has gone thru BCBS Ill and / or True Results. I'm in Tx and so far have been using the Plano True Results office and have BCBS Ill.. I have completed everything they originally told me ins required - consult, Nut consult, Psyc consult & labs. I had to call today for results and only got 1/2 the info I had asked for,( left on my cell when I asked they call me at work.... )

Anyway, anyone have any idea how long it normally takes to get the approval assuming everything was submitted a week ago?? I'm anxious to get the ball rolling. Thanks!

I had a consult with true results and did not like it. The person I spent the most time with (not the surgeon) during the consult couldn't answer most of my questions. They didn't even let me see or talk to the surgeon. They seemed to only care how I was paying because at that time I was under 40bmi and only had 1 comorbidity I was on medication for and so my insurance wouldn't cover it. She was very pushy and got rude when I said I had to discuss the entire process and the first meeting with my husband.

I did some research and ended up going through NewStart at Memorial Hermann. They referred me to UT Physicians MIST surgical group. I am very happy and they helped me get what I needed and approved for the sleeve!

I live in Alabama and have BCBS Illinois. My Surgeons office didn't tell me that I needed a 6 month weight loss study to qualify for my insurance approval. Just a heads up that every BCBS plan is different depending on who you get it though. I would call your insurance to find out exactly what you need instead of just taking your Dr's office word for it. Though BCBS wouldn't tell me anything OR send me anything in writing....they are kind of an nightmare to work with actually

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
